How To Reach Paro

Paro is the only international entry point to Bhutan, and it is well-connected by air and road. Here’s how you can reach Paro:

1. By Air (Best & Easiest Option)

  2. Druk Air and Bhutan Airlines operate flights to Paro from:

    2. Nepal – Kathmandu

Note: Flights to Paro are limited, and the airport is known for its challenging landing due to mountainous terrain, so book your tickets in advance.

2. By Road (From India)

If you prefer a scenic journey, you can enter Bhutan by road through Phuentsholing, the border town near West Bengal.

  1. From Bagdogra Airport (IXB), India – Take a taxi/bus to Phuentsholing (approx. 4-5 hours).
  2. After immigration clearance at Phuentsholing, take a taxi or bus to Paro (approx. 6-7 hours).

3. By Train (Nearest Railway Stations in India)

  1. The closest railway station is Hasimara (HSA) in West Bengal, about 17 km from Phuentsholing.
  2. Other nearby railway stations:
    1. New Jalpaiguri (NJP)4-5 hours drive to Phuentsholing.
    2. Siliguri Junction (SGUJ)4 hours drive to Phuentsholing.

After reaching Phuentsholing, complete immigration formalities and continue to Paro by road.
