Day 1 : Arrive – Paro- Thimphu (Arrival) (55 KM 1 Hour) | ||
After you’re your immigration formalities is completed you will be received by your guide and driver who will be with you all throughout the tour. We will visit the following places before we drive to Thimphu for overnight. 1. Kitchu Monastery: which was built in 7th Century by the Tibetan King Songtsen Gampo to subdue the ogress to earth forever. He built 108 temples overnight. Two falls in Bhutan. One in Bumthang Jambay Lhakhang. 2. Paro Museum: Before was Watch tower which was converted into museum in 1968 to preserve the finest Bhutanese arts, painting, etc. Than we will drive towards Thimphu the Capital for overnight. | ||
Day 2 : Thimphu to Gangteng (149 KM,5 hours) | ||
After early breakfast we will start out journey towards Gangteng by stopping at Dochula pass 3100 meter for picture and visit to Punakha Dzong where the Monarchy was established in 1907. Every special events happens at this place in the country. After lunch we will drive to Gangteng and visit the following places 1. Gangteng Monastery: which is almost 450 years nyingmangpa monastery. 2. Black Necked Crane center: which is situated on the edge forest wetland which has equipped room to watch best view of the cranes who migrate to Bhutan in October and again goes back in March. Day 3 : Gangteng to Bumthang ( 156 km, 5 Hours) | ||
Today you will drive towards central part of Bhutan, Bumthang. On the way you will visit the Trongsa Dzong, which was built in 1644, and it’s the seat of Wangchuck dynasty. The king of Bhutan first has to be the Trongsa Penlop (Governor) of Trongsa before being name as crown prince and then king. Have lunch at Trongsa and drive to Bumthang. Before reaching Bumthang you will stop at Chumey Valley, which is famous for Bhutanese, loom products. | ||
Day 4 : Bumthang | ||
Today you will visit different places around Bumthang, interact with local people and know their culture. 1.Jakar Dzong: Castle of White Bird dominates the Chamkhar Valley and overlooks the town built in 1549. 2.Jambay Lhakhang: which was built in 7th Century by the Tibetan King Songtsen Gampo to subdue the ogress to earth forever. He built 108 temples overnight. Two falls in Bhutan. One in Paro kitchu Monastery. 3.Kurjey Monastery: which is the final resting place for the first three kings of Bhutan and also it the place where Guru Rinpoche has his body imprint while he was meditating. 4.Membar Tsho: The Burning lake. In the evening if time permits you can visit the local beer factory and walk around the town. | ||
Day 5 : Bumthang to Punakha (200 km, 6 Hours) | ||
Today you will return back to Punakha. If the weather favors us we can have good pictures on the way. | ||
Day 6 : Punakha to Thimphu (Festival at Lampelri Botanical Garden) (40 KM – 1 Hour) | ||
After having early breakfast, you will drive to the Rhododendron Festival at Lampelri Botanical garden where we can find 29 species of Rhododendron out of 46 in Bhutan. We can hike around the trail and also witness the cultural program performed by the local communities. In the evening we will drive to Thimphu for overnight. | ||
Day 7 : Thimphu to Paro ( 55 KM 1 hour ) | ||
After breakfast you will visit the following places at Thimphu and in the evening drive to Paro 1. Memorial Chorten: Which was built in the memory of 3rd King. 2. Buddha Point: Which is one of the largest Buddha Shakyamuni Statue in the world built to celebrate the 60th birthday of the 4th King Jigme Singye Wangchuck. 3. Tashichhodzong: has been the seat of the government since 1952 and presently houses the throne room and offices of the king, the secretariat and the ministries of home affairs and finance. Other government departments are housed in buildings nearby. 4. Centenary Farmers Market: You can see people from different districts who all come to sell their local products | ||
Day 8 : Paro (Taktsang day excursion) | ||
After breakfast hike to Taktsang Monastery. The trail is broad and the walk of approximately 5 hours uphill and back for those who cannot hike we will arrange a horse for transfer up to the viewing point). The view of Taktsang Monastery built on a sheer cliff face 900 metres above the valley floor is a spectacular sight. The Monastery is also an important pilgrim site for the Buddhists. The great Guru Rimpoche is said to have flown here on the back of a tigress when he brought the teachings of the Buddhist Dharma to Bhutan in the 8th Century. He then mediated in a cave there for three months where the monastery was later built. Nearby there is a teahouse where you can stop for lunch. In the evening you will have farewell dinner with cultural show performed by the local troop. | ||
Day 9 : Departure | ||
After breakfast your guide and driver from Druk Bayuel Tours will escort to the airport for your onward destination. |
