Day 1 : Arrive Paro-Thimphu | ||
After completion of your immigration processes you will be received by the guide and driver and then proceed towards Thimphu. Visit the memorial Chorten which is built in the name of our late 3rd King of Bhutan. Visit TashiChoedzong has been the seat of the government since 1952 and presently houses the throne room and offices of the king, the secretariat and the ministries of home affairs and finance. Day 2 : Thimphu | ||
After breakfast, you will be taken to two opposite view points – Sangaygang and The Buddha’s point, from where you will have a spectacular bird’s eye view of the capital city. The Buddha’s point is where the Buddha Dordenma statue is located. Visit Painting School where students undergo a 6-year training course in Bhutan’s 13 traditional arts and crafts. Visit the Handicrafts Emporium and local crafts shops, to browse through example of Bhutan’s fine traditional arts where you can purchase. Post Office and Farmers Market then the Takin Zoo. | ||
Day 3 : Thimphu to Punakha | ||
After early breakfast, drive up to Dochu-la pass (3,088m/ 10,130 ft) stopping briefly here to take in the view and admire the chorten, mani wall, and prayer flags which decorate the highest point on the road. Drive to Punakha and visit the Dzong which was Built strategically at the junction of Pho Chhu and Mo Chhu rivers in 1637 by Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyal to serve as the religious and administrative centre of the region and then hike to Khamsum Yelley Chorten which was dedicated to the 5th King, and well being of all the living creature and the people of Bhutan | ||
Day 4 : Punakha to Gangteng | ||
Today early morning we depart for central Bhutan through the tropical vegetation to Nobding. Throughout your trip you will come across the beautiful sceneries of rural Bhutan, with scattered settlements far from the road. We drive about an hour towards Pelela pass (11,000ft) and retrace our Steps and take a road that heads to Gangtey Gompa over Tashi La pass. Descend about an hour to Phobjikha Valley. It is a wide open valley, where Gangtey Gompa is ideally located on a hill overlooking the valley. It is the winter habitat for the Black necked cranes migrating from Tibet early November till mid March. Gangtey Gompa is institute for monks following the Nyingmapa sect in the country. | ||
Day 5 : Gangteng to Thimphu | ||
After early breakfast we will drive towards Thimphu on the way we will hike to Chimi Lhakhang, situated on a hillock in the centre of the valley. It is dedicated to Lama Drukpa Kuenley, also known as ‘Divine Madman’. This temple is also known as the temple of fertility. It is widely believed that couples who do not have children and wanting one, if they pray at this temple, they are usually blessed with a child. Then we will drive to Thimphu visit the Royal Botanical Garden where we can see different types of Flora of Bhutan. Overnight at Thimphu | ||
Day 6 : Thimphu – Paro | ||
We will visit Kichu Monastery which is one of the oldest temple in Bhutan built in 8th Century. Visit Ta Dzong, once a watchtower, built to defend Rinpung Dzong during inter- valley wars of the 17th century; Ta Dzong was inaugurated as Bhutan’s National Museum in 1968. The Dzong is the seat of the district administration as well as the home for the monastic school. The central tower (Utse) of the Dzong. Day 7 : Paro | ||
You will be hiking to the Taktsang Monastery. The name Taktsang means “Tiger’s Nest”. It is said that in the second half of the 8th century, Guru Padma Sambhava alighted here upon the back of a tigress. Lunch at Taktsang cafeteria. The round trip hike takes about 5 hours. | ||
Day 8 : Haa Day Excursion | ||
Start the day early for drive to Haa via Chele-la pass. 4 Km away at Bondey village the road to Haa diverts towards the right hand side and ascends towards the chele-la pass starts. After driving through blue pine & rhododendron forest for 45 km, reach Chele-la pass ( 4200 meters). From this point one can have a superb views of Mt. Chomolhari & Jichu Drakey. This is a very good place to walk around for few minutes enjoying the view. Drive on to Haa, descending all the way for another 22 km (under an hours drive), finally reaching Haa. The Haa Dzong is presently occupied by military, but the view from outside is stunning. After picnic lunch visit to the famous Monastery of Lhakhang Karpo (White Temple) followed by visit to Lhakhang Nagpo (Black Temple). | ||
Day 9 : Departure | ||
After breakfast your guide and driver will reach you to airport for your onward destination. |
