TREKKING IN BHUTAN

Discover one of the remote kingdoms on earth. Laya Gasa Trek This trek offers interesting trekking conditions from picturesque farmland and forests to alpine pastureland and high passes. Spectacular campsites, beneath some of Bhutan’s most impressive peaks are also the features of this trekking route. Various isolated places of cultural interest fen route further enhance its characteristics. Season: The trek is generally open from April to mid June and mid September to mid November but April is the best month for trekking on this route. Snowman Trek This trek goes to the remote Lunana district and considered as the most challenging trek in Bhutan. The attributes those make it a tough trek are; distances, altitudes, weather and remoteness. Season: The Snowman trek is frequently closed because of snow and is almost impossible during winter. The recommended season for this trek is mid June to mid October. SAMTENGANG TREK The best time for Samtengang Winter Trek might be March to April and October to November, but as the name suggests, it is possible throughout the whole winter. This is a short trek passing through some villages of Punakha valley. Dagala Trek This short trek near Thimphu passes through numerous picturesque high altitude lakes. It is a moderate trek with short trekking days but with few steep climbs. Season: The best months for this trek are April, September and October. Jomolhari Trek It is one of the most popular trek offering fantastic views of 7314m high Mount. Chomolhari (Mountain of Goddess), Bhutan’s deeply venerated guardian peak. Starting from Paro, the trek passes through scattered hamlets and farmland, into deep and richly forested valleys, which leads to high alpine pastureland where yak herders graze their animals. The route traverses through little-visited villages, alpine meadows, trout-filled stream, rhododendron forests & masses of wildflowers carpeting the high meadows and also provides opportunity to see blue sheep, along with various species of birds. On trek trail, mountain scenery is amazing with fantastic views of Mount. Chomolhari (7314m), Jichu Drake (6794m) and Tshrim Khang (6789m). Season : The trek is possible from late March until mid June and from September to November however the ideal time is either in Spring months of April & May or in late Autumn from late September to early November. This trek can be graded as moderately strenuous. Dagala Trek This short trek near Thimphu passes through numerous picturesque high altitude lakes. It is a moderate trek with short trekking days but with few steep climbs. Season: The best months for this trek are April, September and October. Druk Path Trek Druk Path is a short five days moderate trek offering great views, with trail leading from Paro to Thimphu or vice versa, crossing the chain of mountains that separates the two valleys. The route is sparsely inhabited by nomadic yak herders and passes through gorgeous natural landscape of blue pine forests, high ridges and pristine lakes while also providing opportunity to visit ancients lhakhangs (temples), Dzongs and villages. There are wonderful lakes en route teeming with fish and the area is particularly famous for its alpine pastures and spectacular rhododendron forests, which bloom in April & May. In the clear weather of late autumn and spring there are great views of the Himalayas especially Mount. Gangkar Puensum, the highest un-scaled peak in the world. Season : The recommended months for this trek are March to June and September to November.
